The Bone Anchored Hearing Aid

What is a BAHA?

BAHA or Bone Anchored Hearing Aids are a special type of hearing aid that can be provided to individuals who cannot wear ordinary hearing aids.

There are a number of reasons why someone cannot wear a convention behind-the-ear hearing aid. The most common reason is a person with discharging (leaky) ears so this technology offers hope to you.

A minor surgical procedure to implant a fixture to the bone behind the ear provides a platform to attach a hearing aid. As the BAHA does not block off the ear canal there are two benefits achieved from the BAHA procedure. You are able to wear your hearing aid constantly throughout the day and often the discharge from the ear disappears.

You will need to have a special audiological (hearing) assessment arranged to asses your suitability for a BAHA.

To arrange an appointment to asses your suitability for a BAHA please contact Mr Sheehan's secretary.
