Hearing loss, glue ear, sleep apnoea, recurrent chest infections, nose and sinus problems, and acid reflux symptoms are among the common problems encountered in individuals with Down syndrome.
Mr Sheehan, as a father of a son with Down syndrome and consultant ENT surgeon has a unique understanding of the issues that affect the lives of individuals with Down syndrome.
Mr Sheehan has recently help author a booklet "Down's syndrome and childhood deafness". This is produced by the National Deaf Children's Society with the aid of the Down's Syndrome Association and the Down's Syndrome Medical Interest Group.
