Mr Sheehan ProfileMr PATRICK SHEEHANMB, BCh, M.Phil, FRCSI, FRCSEd, FRCS(ORL-HNS)Mr Patrick Sheehan is a consultant Otolaryngologist with an interest in paediatric ENT. He has consultant appointments at both the new Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and North Manchester General Hospital.
Mr Sheehan came to Manchester having trained at a number of world renowned teaching hospitals. He started his Paediatric Otolaryngology training at Birmingham Children's Hospital before undertaking a Paediatric Fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He was awarded a prestigious TWJ fellowship to the University Hospital and The Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, Canada in 1999. While in North America, he had visiting fellowships to Boston Children's Hospital and Cincinnati Children Centre, world renowned centres for paediatric ENT treatment.
Since his appointment as a consultant in 2000 he has established a number of specialist interest clinics. The ENT and Hearing clinic for Children with Down syndrome is the only such clinic in the UK and has a national reputation with a number of NHS awards both from region and the National Health Service Journal. He has also established tongue-tie clinic and a paediatric voice disorder clinic using modern stroboscopic techniques adapted for children.
His research interest and publications are centred on hearing rehabilitation in children. I have published widely on many aspects of paediatric related problems including patient information booklets for the National Deaf Children's Society; details of some of these publications can be seen in another section of this web site. I have lectured extensively on Paediatric ENT topics both nationally and internationally.
Mr Sheehan is medical advisor (ENT) to the Down Syndrome Association and the National Deaf Children's Society as well as being an examiner for the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Ireland. He is a council member of the British Association of Paediatric Otolaryngologists. He is honorary lecturer in Paediatric Otolaryngology at Manchester University.
Mr Sheehan sees patients for private consultations at the Alexandra Hospital Cheadle and Spire Hospital Manchester for the last 10 years and tries to make every effort to be able to see children as quickly as possible. He will make arrangements to see urgent referrals within 1-2 days if necessary. His usual clinics sessions are on Mondays and Thursdays.
I look forward to meeting you at some stage
